You Start Looking for Someone to Follow
You don't wake up one morning and decide to copy someone else's trades. It happens much more quietly than that. At first you just want another opinion. You already know what you're planning to do. You just want to see if someone else sees it too.
You don't wake up one morning and decide to copy someone else's trades.
It happens much more quietly than that.
At first, you just want another opinion.
You already know what you're planning to do.
You just want to see if someone else sees it too.
You open a chart.
You mark your levels.
You come up with a plan.
Then, before you place the trade, you check social media.
Or Discord.
Or YouTube.
Or that trader you've been following for months.
You're not looking for new ideas.
You're looking for confirmation.
If they agree, you feel better.
If they don't, suddenly you're not so sure anymore.
It's strange.
Five minutes ago, you trusted your analysis.
Now you're wondering if you missed something.
So you wait.
The trade works without you.
You tell yourself it wasn't part of your plan anyway.
Tomorrow you'll trust yourself more.
Then tomorrow comes.
You do it again.
Before long, it stops feeling like a habit.
It just feels like the way you trade.
You're in a trade.
It's moving against you.
You open X.
You search the ticker.
Nobody is talking about it.
That silence feels worse than a red candle.
Little by little, you stop asking, "What do I think?"
You start asking, "What does everyone else think?"
You don't notice it happening.
You just notice that every decision starts taking longer.
You hesitate.
You second-guess.
You refresh.
You wait for one more opinion.
One more chart.
One more tweet.
One more video.
Because if enough people agree...
it has to be right.
Doesn't it?
The strange part is that even when everyone agrees, the market doesn't care.
The trade still loses.
Now you're confused twice.
The trade failed.
And so did the person you trusted.
So you go looking for someone else.
A different trader.
A different Discord.
A different mentor.
A different system.
The cycle starts over.
It feels like you're searching for the right trader to follow.
Maybe you're really searching for permission to trust yourself.
Somewhere along the way, you stopped borrowing other people's ideas.
You started borrowing their certainty.
The trouble with borrowed certainty is that it disappears
the moment its owner changes their mind.
Confidence doesn't grow because someone else was right.
It grows because you're willing to live with your own decisions.
That's a lesson no one else can lend you.
