It Wasn't Supposed to Feel Like This
Reality doesn’t usually hit all at once.
It doesn’t kick the door in.
It seeps in.
And one day you realize it’s been there for a while.
Maybe it was the first Sunday afternoon you spent staring at charts instead of doing anything else.
Maybe it was checking futures before you even got out of bed.
Maybe it was the night you snapped at someone over nothing and knew — even while it was happening — that it wasn’t really about them.
It was about the trade from that morning that you couldn’t let go of.
Nothing huge.
Just different.
At first trading felt like possibility.
Now it feels like something you have to deal with.
Somewhere along the way, the excitement got replaced by expectation.
And expectation has a funny way of turning into pressure.
Winning doesn’t feel as exciting the way it used to.
It feels like relief.
Losing doesn’t just cost money.
It sticks with you.
It follows you into dinner. Into conversations. Into bed.
The strange part is this doesn’t happen because you stopped caring.
It happens because you cared too much.
That’s a big difference.
Nobody starts this hoping to get anxious.
Nobody opens a brokerage account hoping to spend weekends questioning themselves.
Nobody says “I hope I spend all my free time wondering what I screwed up.”
It happens a lot quieter than that.
You study more. Try harder. Watch one more video. Read one more book. Change one more strategy.
Keep telling yourself the next answer is probably just around the corner.
And honestly, that makes sense.
Most of us did the same thing.
Because if the picture in your head still seemed possible then maybe you just hadn’t figured it out yet.
So you kept going.
Little by little, reality filled in the parts nobody really told you about.
Not to discourage you.
Just to show you the whole thing.
You don’t usually catch that moment while it’s happening.
You only recognize it in hindsight.
One day you realize you’ve been thinking the same thing for a while.
Something changed.
And it wasn’t just the market.
